A person I know points me in the direction of Monk for a Month, and this is how it started...

Really? You get to be an actual monk for a whole month? You get to help out people less fortunate than you and learn how to be a decent, good and respectful person? You get to learn good morals and tenets and the basic principles of Honor and Commitment? Ohmygods! Sign me up!

See, I have a problem with this whole buying Spirituality shit that's been a growing trend recently. Because, umm, hello? You can't buy Spirituality, people. Hmm, didn't Jesus say it best? (And yeah, I hate that they're making me drag out an example who's had their teachings corrupted as fuck by mankind for their own purposes and agendas, but in this instance, it does work.) "Give unto Caesar what is Caesar's, give unto God what is God's."

You cannot charge for shit that is Spiritual. That's it, end of discussion. It's one of the reasons why I've never charged for readings, workings or anything else. Because it's an ability that was gifted to me to use as an aide for others who come seeking answers.

I don't charge for my advice, why would I charge for my readings?

Now what I want to know is this- why in the gods' green earth would you need to travel to Thailand for in order to learn how to be a decent human being? There are homeless shelters, animal shelters, soup kitchens, food pantries, youth organizations, senior centers, church programs and many other opportunities to help out in your own area.

So, really, other than bragging rights, why the hell would you need to travel to a distant country to learn how to help people? You want to be a Spiritual person? That's fine. Start by spending some time out in nature. Connect with Mother Earth again. Listen to the voices of her children, hear what they have to say. And for the love of gods, don't be so damn closed-minded! Each and every thing on this planet is a living, breathing entity. An ant has just as much value and a right to life as you do, just as the fly or spider hanging out in your attic. They were here before us, and they'll be here after we're long gone.

Respect them. Respect others who earn that respect. Know that all life is precious and make a conscious effort to reinforce that in your life. Think before you kill. Put yourself in that being's shoes. Animals and insects are a people just as you and I are. They have families, they have purposes, and they have lives.

That right there? That's enough of a start on the Spiritual Path to get you going.

And guess what? That $2,000.00 you just saved on a bogus trip to a Thailand Temple? You can donate it to a local charity instead.

And then, instead of having just bragging rights, you'll have made a difference.

While perhaps being considered a "humorous" take on the United States Government, this video is sadly accurate in the government's dealings and outlooks on Society's Debt to the Government- at least in the government's eyes.

What's sadder yet is that while people may laugh and get a chuckle out of the video while saying that it is fairly accurate, they feel no compulsion nor need to change the way the government system works.

What ever happened to the Servant's of Men? The Government of the people, by the people, for the people? What happened to those in power's Duty to Protect, Honor and Care for those underneath them? Without the regular Joe's of society, the government would have no one to govern, yet we're constantly looked upon as being something... unintelligent... plebeian... moronic.

Perhaps we are. But then, this gives me hope that there may be some humans capable of intelligence left in this country, despite the fact that it's still a very slim sense of hope...

From Guardian.co.uk:

A lost world populated by fanged frogs, grunting fish and tiny bear-like creatures has been discovered in a remote volcanic crater on the Pacific island of Papua New Guinea.
'A giant woolly rat never before seen by science' Link to this audio

A team of scientists from Britain, the United States and Papua New Guinea found more than 40 previously unidentified species when they climbed into the kilometre-deep crater of Mount Bosavi and explored a pristine jungle habitat teeming with life that has evolved in isolation since the volcano last erupted 200,000 years ago. In a remarkably rich haul from just five weeks of exploration, the biologists discovered 16 frogs which have never before been recorded by science, at least three new fish, a new bat and a giant rat, which may turn out to be the biggest in the world.

The discoveries are being seen as fresh evidence of the richness of the world's rainforests and the explorers hope their finds will add weight to calls for international action to prevent the demise of similar ecosystems. They said Papua New Guinea's rainforest is currently being destroyed at the rate of 3.5% a year.

"It was mind-blowing to be there and it is clearly time we pulled our finger out and decided these habitats are worth us saving," said Dr George McGavin who headed the expedition.

The team of biologists included experts from Oxford University, the London Zoo and the Smithsonian Institution and are believed to be the first scientists to enter the mountainous Bosavi crater. They were joined by members of the BBC Natural History Unit which filmed the expedition for a three-part documentary which starts tomorrow night.

They found the three-kilometre wide crater populated by spectacular birds of paradise and in the absence of big cats and monkeys, which are found in the remote jungles of the Amazon and Sumatra, the main predators are giant monitor lizards while kangaroos have evolved to live in trees. New species include a camouflaged gecko, a fanged frog and a fish called the Henamo grunter, named because it makes grunting noises from its swim bladder.

"These discoveries are really significant," said Steve Backshall, a climber and naturalist who became so friendly with the never-before seen Bosavi silky cuscus, a marsupial that lives up trees and feeds on fruits and leaves, that it sat on his shoulder.

"The world is getting an awful lot smaller and it is getting very hard to find places that are so far off the beaten track."

In 1971, Congress passed the Airborne Hunting Act banning the use of airplanes to hunt wolves. But the State of Alaska is exploiting a loophole that has allowed private citizens in aircraft to kill of hundreds of wolves annually under what's called "wildlife management."

Since 2003, the state's aerial killing programs have claimed the lives of more than 1,000 wolves. During the 2008/2009 aerial gunning season, more than 250 wolves were killed -- making it one the deadliest season in years!

Recently, Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) introduced the Protect America's Wildlife (PAW) Act, federal legislation working to end the controversial practice of aerial wolf hunting in Alaska and prevent it from spreading to states in the lower 48. The introduction of PAW in the Senate marks a landmark opportunity to stop aerial hunting once and for all. Urge your Senator to support the PAW Act today.

Please, please sign this petition. Wolves are amazing individuals bound together by their packs. They are families. To kill one puts an entire pack at risk.

To sign the petition, visit this page. And if, for whatever reason you cannot take the two minutes because the slaughtering of hundreds of innocent creatures does not bother you, please at least pass this on to those you know will care.

Thank you,

Zombie Ants controlled by Fungus

Yes, that's right, folks. Zombies are real and they're crawling to a city near you!

Actually, you're safe for now as long as you don't live in Thailand, but with this discovery, who knows how soon the government will seize said fungus for research in biological weapons advancement?

What does this Rorschach blot look like to you?
Personally? I see an elephant. Big floppy ears, eyes are the white spaces up on top, the tusks are the second set of white spots while the trunk kinda flops down at the bottom.

Rorschach blots for writer's block. How cool is that? Also, yay for my Rorschach icon! (Because I can)

So. Yeah. zorman32 and arualanne inspired this one.

Besides, it's been a while.

Spirituality posting- for those of you what are small-minded, unwilling to discuss such topics in a calm, rational and mature way, or just plain stupid... well, you might not want to take part. Because really, I will get out my Clue By Four. And then I'll use it. Heh. Please don't make me get out my LiveJournal Etiquette Rules, mmmkay?

For my own part, I look at Spirituality and Religion as two entirely separate things.

Religion is a system of beliefs put in place by man to try and explain the Spiritual- a unique and individual path to be walked by each being which taps into the energy, life-force and beauty of God, The Creator, The Divine, Allah, or whomever you relate to in this regard.

Spirituality does not need Religion to exist as it is already an individual's Spirit Journey. Religion, on the other hand, is a structured base of rules and regulations which tries to define how Spirituality works. As such, it needs at the very least the idea of Spirituality so as to be able to exist.

That being said, I have known a handful of deeply Spiritual people who are not in any way Religious. I have also met several Religious people who have no clue what true Spirituality is.

Now, in a friend's posting, someone brought up the point that he believes it is not possible for one to be spiritual and have a human experience.

I tend to disagree.

For one, I believe that I am a spiritual being having a human experience. I believe that when I die, the meat sack otherwise known as my body will fall off and then act as food for Mother Earth after having received sustenance from her my entire life. As I told arualanne, I kinda like this idea as it makes me happy to realize that there will come a time I can give back even that little amount (granted, there's a ton of other ways to give back to Mother Earth, but I'm not getting into that here as it would just totally derail my train of thought- and we all know where that leads to, heh).

Anywho, in looking upon myself as a Spiritual Being first and foremost, I realize that when I die, my body will remain as my Soul goes on to it's next great adventure, test or lesson needing to be learned. As such, I believe that while I'm a Spiritual Being, I do realize that my body is human- ie, having a "human experience."

Zorman states that by their very nature, spirituality and physicality are in complete opposition to each other, existentially. Yet I have to disagree in that I believe that the more we learn in the physical, the better spirituality is proven. The more complexities we discover in the very foundation of life (cells, mitochondria, atoms, dark matter, etc.), the more it proves to me that life is not simply some big colossal accident that happened when a big pointy rock smashed off of another big pointy rock. Plus, honestly? The Big Bang Theory never made sense to me... because where'd the rocks come from in the first place? Oh, I believe in evolution, but to say that we're just a Cosmic Coincidence... it doesn't make sense to me.

Now I know I have a fairly eclectic group of friends here on my list. There are a couple of atheists/agnostics, a Christian or two and a far greater number who probably identify as pagan or such. More than likely there's one or two of you who identify as something else entirely.

This is open to all of you.

Thoughts, ideas, beliefs, discussions, etc. are all welcome here. I simply ask that you be polite in sharing your beliefs and understand that it might not be that of another. Respect their beliefs as you would ask for your own to be.

After that, feel free to add your two cents worth :)

So once again the loverly nalidoll is doing tarot readings for tips.

Full information can be found here, but the gist of it written by her is as follows:

"The Basics
- You email me at nalidoll (AT) gmail (DOT) com, and put "Tarot Reading Request" in the subject line. Give me the name you most prefer to be called by.
- I will do the readings in the order I get them. I will send your reading back to you, to the email address provided.
- Once you receive the reading, you may ask me a question or for some clarification. This is always true of my readings.
- After you have your reading, you can tip me whatever amount you feel is appropriate at my paypal account under the same gmail address.
- While completely optional, Feedback is Highly Appreciated and Encouraged. Heh.
- While also optional, spreading the word is also appreciated.

The Background
For those not familiar with me or my readings, I have been reading Tarot Cards, specifically, for over 20 years. I also read a little of everything else, but Tarot remains my favorite, I think. I am currently using, mostly, the Housewives Tarot. It makes me smile, and that is always a good thing in my book.

Questions about any of this are always welcomed, and answered as promptly as I am able.
All proceeds, at the moment, go toward taking care of some things I need to pay off, putting minutes on my phone so I can actually keep in contact with the outside world, possibly buying the art supplies I need to finally get some projects completed, and other such Dolli Things. I am working towards getting a place of my own, and I need to get a few things squared away in order to be ready for that."

Go check her out. She rocks when it comes to readings as I can attest to by personal experience. Mmmkay? Mmmkay.

Even though I know that many of you on my Friends List believe Obama to be a new Christ of sorts, I am linking this movie on my journal because of the truth that it holds within it. Care to question just how much your convictions stand when it comes to his "Change" that he- or rather those who have put him in power in the first place- is in the process of implementing? Then go ahead and give this movie a go.

I guarantee you'll have another outlook by the end of it. Or at very least, several very interesting questions to ask yourself and research further.

Call me crazy, psycho, nutters, whatever. I have been saying from the moment he got the democratic slot that this was all a set up. Now I'm not normally one who runs about screaming that the sky is falling, nor do I ever intend to be. But when I see something that is so inherently wrong, I speak up, as I'm doing now.

Thanks to nalidoll for pointing me to the movie. For the rest of you, whether Obama supporters or not, please at least take the time to watch this movie in it's entirety with an open mind and also feel free to question it's contents as well. By all means, research the information within this. Look up the facts and see for yourself that Alex Jones is dead on with pretty much everything within the movie.

And when you come to the conclusion that he is... Pass it on. Because the more we do, the less powerful the ones in charge become. The more power we take back and the more secrecy we pull away from the tyrants in charge, the less power they hold and the more chances we have to take our Nation back.

::Edit:: And before some of you wonder due to the day, no, this is not my idea of an April Fools joke.

A friend of mine has recently got back into doing tarot readings for people. She is, from personal experience, Bang On and has been doing readings for years now.

If you are interested, you can find her original journal entry Here. She simply asks that you donate whatever you believe the reading is worth/whatever you can spare.

If anyone is interested I highly recommend asking for a reading. She's damn good at what she does and she explains it in layman's terms for those of you who aren't all into the mystical aspect of the cards. No woo-woo, "The sun is in the fourth house therefore..." crap with her.

Very well worth it. (Go check her out!)

Do you believe in true love? What about love at first sight?
True love, huh? Well that's somewhat of a sticky situation, to be honest.

While the optimist in me wants to scream out, "of course!" the realist in me has to stop and consider the truth of the situation.

I believe in true love, yes. I just think that with the way people are nowadays- selfish, self-centered, arrogant, lusty, immature, self-serving, etc.- prevents it from occurring much anymore.

With so many people being from the Generation Me mentality, there's no want nor willpower to stick things out. Thus you get those who cheat on their spouses/significant others and when found out, they do the whole, "oh but it really wasn't my fault. I couldn't help it," deal.

This, of course, is bullshit. Because One's Dick doesn't simply just fall into another person's Vagina. Or etc., for those out there in homosexual relationships.

Bluntly put? Yes, I believe True Love exists. I just don't think it means anything to most people nowadays, nor that they could actually recognize it through the idiocy and haze of selfishness and lust that they live with.

Love at first sight?

I believe in Lust at First Site. I also believe in two souls being able to recognize connections from past lives, etc., or the realization that someone is special without exactly Knowing Why. I don't, however, equate that last one to Love...

What is your personal motto or favorite quotation?
"Get busy living or get busy dying." ~Red from Shawshank Redemption.

I once used this quote in a discussion once whereupon it was taken and completely bastardized until it's original meaning was, apparently, lost in translation.

I view this quote to mean that even in the face of the toughest adversity, you can either rise above it (get busy living...) or simply lay down and admit defeat (...or get busy dying.) Either way, you can't remain in the twilit lands of indecision.

There was one point in my life that was very dark and depressing. I had been suicidal for a time and this quote helped bring clarity. Though there were times I wanted to hang up, cash in, check out... I said screw it. I'm stronger than that and stubborn as well. And when I repeated this quote like a personal mantra, it helped pull me through.

So yeah. We can get busy living, or we can get busy dying... but either way, we have to do one or the other.

Okay, so normally I would do the whole, "I hate Valentine's Day" rant right about now.

I have something even sillier to add to my list than the actual Hallmark Holiday itself.

This post in news.

You hate Valentines Day, you say? Don't want to buy into the whole commercialism of it, you say? Why not purchase an Anti-Valentine's Day gift so that you too can show the world just how much you loathe the commercialized byproduct of Hallmark's Spawn?

If you could live one day in your life over and over, which day would it be?

God, wouldn't that be boring? Even though the Bad Days in my life have far outweighed the Good, I don't think I'd want to perpetually relive one of my better days. After a while, it would simply negate the good vibes from it and cheapen the memory, don't you think?

Ever seen Groundhog Day? Yeah. I think if I had to eternally live one day over and over again, I'd go as batty as Phil does and try to think of creative and ingenious ways to Kill Myself Ded. Yes. D-E-D dead. And I'm not really the suicidal type anymore to be honest...

I mean, I do understand that in the true Hollywood style, Bill Murray ends up doing good with his life in the end, but again, that's Hollywood for ya. How well would the movie have sold had he gone on a rampant killing spree and made Jeffry Dahmer look sane? Then magically, the days stopped repeating and oh-shit, jail time dude? Right?

Humm, anyway... Point is, I'd rather live a lifetime full of ups and downs than have to suffer through an eternity of days all the same.
